Do emotion icons really affect other people who are reading your messages or emails? :)

i think the key is to use only a few and to choose them wisely. if you throw out 10 in a row, they tend to lose their effectiveness and sincerity. but one well-placed smiley (or something WORSE!) can display emotions that strengthen the written word, or help to clarify it.

so yes, i am affected by emoticons... if taken in moderation. :)

Sometimes you might type something that can be taken two different ways, so adding an emoticon can let them know if you meant it angrily or jokingly or whatever.
