Because we have opposable thumbs and use our hands to accomplish things. Also, we, unlike other animals, have a desire to use our intelligent for our own well being. Animals just act on instinct.

We have an opposing thumb. We can create. We have independent thoughts. And we are far superior in overall intelligence. Some animals may be smarter in specific areas but no where near the encompassing knowledge and intelligence humans possessed nor any ability to create and make tangible things from available resources that's around us.
By in large, we probably have more idiots than the animal kingdom. Take my girlfriend's brother for example, if he could string a few intelligent thoughts together, he might be able to get a refund from the school where he got his GED diploma.

Man CLAIMS to be the dominate life form on the planet, but we are destined to destroy ourselves through ignorance and greed. After we are long dead animals will again be the dominate life forms.

There isn't necessarily a relationship between being dominant and being smart. We reproduce and fill up the world.

we are dominant because we us humans believed that we are dominant. because of us there is global warming, alot of our rain forests are ebing sut down, swamps are being destryed, and we are the cause of many of the animals extinctions. yes people are stupid :D

They just let us think we are. It's their little joke, a bit like we put wheels in hamster cages and give dogs rubber bones.
