I don't deal in stereotypes, because they are usually thought up by some person too stupid to actually do any thinking. Judging from some of the answers so far, I can see that I am right. Instead of stereotypes, lets deal with some generalities, instead:

The way that members of the Democratic Party look at life is that they feel that the first duty of a government is to protect its citizenry, and that society thrives when everyone who wants to contributes to society. this is often engendered by social programs designed to 'level the playing field' for all participants. Many democrats tend to feel hat big business tends to take advantage of the individual's rights, and have been instrumental in the creation of child welfare laws, and anti-pollution legislation. Many Democrats feel that the past was terribly imperfect and unjust, and are sometimes too quick to embrace ideas that have not proven to be effective. they are typically not traditional, and see themselves as progressive.they are not a close-knit group whatsoever, their membership being composed of usually everyone who does not consider themselves a Republican. they represent often different viewpoints and opt for conflicting solutions to issues. This has certainly affected their ability to coordinate election efforts in the face of an organized but minority Republican party. Many Democrats are not very good wartime leaders, usually because of their lack of connectivity to the military and big business; that being said, Roosevelt was a Democrat, and one of the finest Presidents in US history.

The most common way that Republicans look at life is that they feel that government is too intrusive in their lives, and in the pursuit of their happiness, frequently described as the doctrine of 'laissez faire'. They feel that they represent traditional values, and have a strong vision of what they feel America should be like. they tend to be a very close-knit group, seeing the world in 'us or them,' and 'my way or the highway' terms. this has worked both for and against them in the past. It simultaneously prevented the Union from sundering during the Civil War while working to eliminate black people and minorities from ever being part of the political process. Most Republicans are very good administrators in a wartime setting, since they tend to have close relationships with big business and strategic planning groups, such as the Trilateral Commission.

Here's one way to view the issue: the extremist Muslims in the Middle East claim that their religion-centered lifestyle is morally superior to that of the "decadent" West.

The conservative American response is, if you are being forced to behave a certain way, if it not of your own free choice, then it has nothing to do with morality. Virtue is when you are confronted with a choice of good and bad, and you choose the good. As they say, it's easy to be chaste when you live in a convent.

Imagine you have two poor young boys. One has never left his impoverished little village. Another took a trip to a big city, was invited into the house of a rich family. Even though there were many valuable, tempting items all around him, he didn't steal anything.

The first boy cannot really brag that he is vituous because he didn't steal anything. He never had the opportunity. But the second boy had plenty of opportunity to steal, but he chose not to. He can honestly be called virtuous.

The same analogy applies to Democrats and Republicans. Liberals think that generosity is forcibly taking money from one group and giving it to another. That's not charity; there is no choice involved. It is not a gift from the heart.

Republicans believe that people should make the moral choice to help one another. Private charities are much more responsive to people in need than big, impersonal government programs.

Obviously, the Republican ideal embodies the Christian ethic of people willingly helping one another.

Republicans --
Only rich, white guys
Looks after them and theirs
Fundamentalist Christians
Uncaring
Stupid
Corrupt
Warmongering
Thinks "Why can't people be more like us?"

Democrats --
Bleeding hearts
Naive
Self-righteous
Drug users
Soft on crime/terrorism
Despise the rich and middle class
Socialists
Thinks "Why can't people be more like us?"

Those are the ones I come across most often. Anyone with a brain stem wouldn't place all Republicans and all Democrats into some narrow category, though. These traits (put together) don't represent any real people.

The only thing you need to know is this. Democrats have no ideas and Republicans only have bad ones.

Democrats are seen as being too anti war, and too easy on crime and too accepting of other cultures, Republicans are seen as too pro war, too pro business, and too cold towards the need of fellow citizens. I think if you have any sort of idea what Christianity is you can tell which one is more Christ like.

in my view, i detect that maximum folk of Dems experience that they are responsible for his or her pals in spite of no remember if or no longer there pals are responsible for themselves. in addition they want the government working their lives. Reps have faith that a guy/woman has the final to obtain some great reward of their very own stressful artwork and that they do no longer seem to be inevitably responsible for everyone who does not "toe the line". however Republicans in all probability donate extra money to charity than Dems.
