Probably not ants eating on them. Isotox will get rid of the insects. Pick up a bottle at a local home improvement store, lawn and garden center for around 10 bucks. Follow the directions and dilute properly, use a hose end sprayer to spray all of your plants.

Are you sure they're ants? Earwigs are what feast on the dahlias I've grown. Go out at night with a flashlight and look around. If it is earwigs, they can be controlled by laying 12" pieces of bamboo on its side or with on end sticking in the ground an inch or two. The earwigs will hunker down in them at night, and in the morhing you shake them into a bucket of water and deal with them.
