they say warp drive is possible but first we must discover negative energy then form a bubble around a ship with it as space behind us expands then space in front contracts then it propels us foward through contracted space making a trip to mars significantly shorter. phasers are possible by igniting electrons which causes a chain reaction which wil burn a target with large amounts of heat maybe enough to incinerate it. want a communicator go to verizon and buy a flip phone. if you want an entertainment system like data and want songs on demand go buy an ipod. well thats about it to see more stuff like this tune into the history channel now and again

A good book that was a fun read is called:
The Physics of Star Trek.
It says a lot about what is feasible and what is not likely to ever happen. The one thing I remember is that no one could ever dodge out of the way of a phaser blast. Why? Because information cannot reach us faster than the speed of light. Well, the phaser fires a light beam. As soon as information reached the target that the phaser was fired, the phaser would also reach the person fired upon. The target would only have information which would cause them to think "duck!' after they had been hit.
And, yes, take the insurbordination charge for refusing to be the red shirt wearer on the away team...ALWAYS.

Some things already have like the communicators the original star trek used, the hand held ones they're not that much different from walkie talkies or mobile phones.
Women running around wearing very little is also here now lol altho I think it would be difficult to find anyone who would willingly kiss Cpt J T Kirk lol

Some things are already happening. We have a kind of communicator, electronic padd's and are researching plasma fueled engines.

We will explore space, will colonize the moon (it's the nearest available space for our growing world population) and create a lot more even Star Trek didn't think of.

Some things, events or technology's may never be. But one thing I strongly believe;

Some day, not in my lifetime and not in yours but someday humanity will be United. Hunger, War and pollution will subside and mankind will live up to it's potential.

Yes...William Shatner really does wear a wig.
That happened in Star Trek.

The idea behind the writing is that it's set in the near future, so yes everything appears possible.

Go back to the 60's and they were groundbreaking in having a Black character and a russian character all working together. Back then I'm sure people said that would never happen too!

STC106 needs to remember; we already know of places, subatomic places, where "OUR" laws of physics do not apply. So; that sort of makes your point a moot one. Doesn't it?
In answering the question though; much of what they envisioned as futuristic and technologically advanced has already become mainstream. Whats waiting ten years down the road will put our high tech stuff to shame. So; yes JUST about everything you see on startrek either has or probably will happen someday. Unless its just silly stuff of course, with no tribble at all!

Oh, it's very possible. I've seen every episode of both TNG (The Next Generation) and DS9 (Deep Space Nine), and it's all, for the most part, plausible. All we can do is wait until it all comes out.

I'd like to think it could, no reason not too - we just dont have the technology yet, naybe in a hundred years or so..

Would love to be able to beam anywhere - how cool would that be!

No more need to fly in planes, we could just beam off on holiday.

Unless we find a way to circumvent several of the laws of physics, no.
