Some of people go to college and don't know much about other things, they even need to hire gardeners, plumbers, house painters, etc. . . I'm kind of dumb myself , went to school but am clumsy with doing things with my hands. But my father didn't go to school and he's so smart with making things, fixng things, and everything. It's incredible. In fact, when i compare my self to him, i'm stupid. But i learn something from him, even if i'm not as quick and as sharp. If you had some problem in your house, or something to build or some problem to solve...would your schooling help you at atll? would you call a maid to clean your house, fix your leaking faucet, etc? i think i would call maybe a plumber cause i'm not good at that.. but i would paint, and do other things.. well but then i'm clumsy with making stuff, .. i'm not good at car fixing either.. gosh, i have to learn . so what about you guys?

I know an awful lot of educated stupid people. The fact that someone has the opportunity to further their education is a great thing, but just because they have a college degree does not give them the right to think they are smarter than others. The ability to do for ourselves comes from necessity, not education. Having a college degree does give people the ability to make a better living and not "have" to do as much for themselves. Our attitudes toward each other is so much more important than any kind of education or common sense. I think some are blessed with gifts of creativity or craftsmanship and others are blessed with the ability to learn the art of education. Why not use your education to volunteer tutoring in the local school and get your father to teach you how to do the things you do not know. You will win both ways. You'll be helping others and will get to spend some really great time with your dad. If school intelligence were the most important thing in the world, we need to rethink our admiration for an awful lot of men and women that contributed to this great nation. I'd call it an even draw, we can't live without each other.

School opened up a new world for me, teaches me things which is beyond my wildest dreams and imaginations. it also show me the intangibles and the abstract. it opens up the world of fantasy and dreams. one thing it cannot do is, to teach you to live and thrive in our practical world, oh yes you may go to a trade school to learn plumbing, but if you do not have the interest and aptitude for things mechanical, then no amount of schooling helps, i guess this aptitude i'm talking about is in us, either you have it or you don't, i can still remember when i was a kid and my dad bought me a wound-up toy plane, my first mechanical toy, within 3 days it was in pieces, not because it was smashed, but i opened it up to see what makes it ticked, of course it remains that way and doesn't remotely looks like a plane, i was 5 then, now, i'm doing my own electrical, plumbing, gas, always fixing things up, my favourite is fixing old clocks, schooling is one thing, experience, is another, you can read all the traveling books you can find, but if you didn't travel, how can you experience its culture, the sight, the smell, and the thrill of just being there?

You need both to be a well-rounded person. You could probably make it with just one or the other, but it would be a lot harder. I've known people who have masters degrees in this and that, but can't change a tire. I've known people who can read people like a book and can fix everything mechanical in their house, but get into financial trouble because they don't know how to balance a checkbook. Get both, you'll need them.
