Is he stupid? Please show him this question and all the answers saying he an idiot. Air conditioners run based on how hot it is inside the building and if you are constantly letting more heat into your building, the air conditioner will keep running. Not only is that a huge waste of money, but it also doesn't effectively cool the building.

Tell your manager that physics says he is retarded. If the building is insulated then there is a temperature differential between the inside and the outside of the building. Thermodynamics dictates that there be an equilibrium between the two. If the doors are left open, that will allow the equilibrium to take place.

Yeah....your manager is an idiot. Even without the air conditioner, it will be cooler if you leave the doors closed.

Is the air-conditioner duct in his office? His idea not only wastes money and energy it causes the AC to constantly run full power and wears it out faster, when it breaks down no one (not even he) will have an AC.

The best thing you can do is open the windows when it is cool. leave them open while it is cool. and then close them when it starts to warm up. If you have the money. invest in window tinting for your business or shades. keep them pulled when there is direct light. (windows...doors....whatever.) go for that promotion. the current manager is an idiot
