I am. To me, "down to earth" means that you are able to relate to people from all walks of life without judgment, you can communicate with people, show love and compassion for everyone, particularly those who express a need; that you are comfortable in a high class restaurant facing a 15-course meal as well as being able to eat raw shrimp straight out of the ocean deep. You can hang with the best and the less; you can do the "twist" with the 60's crowd and the "motorcycle" with the hip hop group; You smile at everybody and try to make everyone feel comfortable. You work hard, and enjoy what you do. You don't gossip. You help old people and pet animals. You feed the birds and squirrels and you listen when they talk. You don't have a problem praying and you care about the sick. Yes, down to earth is what I am. And I love you and there isn't anything you can do about it. (smile)

Yes, it means real. Like a person who is self obsessed or extremely superficial is not "down to earth" I am "down to earth" because I am open minded, friendly, stable, reliable, and honest.
Down-to-Earth - sensible and practical; "has a straightforward down-to-earth approach to a problem"; "her earthy common sense"

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm often practical, I usually don't have an overblown opinion of myself, and I don't expect the impossible. At other times, I'm known to be somewhat whimsical and I occasionally fancy myself capable of world domination, but still. I guess I could be "down to earth" overall.
