No. No way, no how.

A woman ovulates about 2 *weeks* before her next period. The egg only lives 6-12 hours (maybe 24 hours occasionally). So, there's no egg 3 days before your period.

Further, even if you *did* ovulate right before your period, and it was fertilized, it takes about a week for the fertilized egg to get to the uterus to start implanting...by the time it got there, your period would have started so that there wouldn't be a place to implant. The fertilized egg would just leave your body with the menstrual blood.

This is complicated, however, by the fact that you *could* have a longer-than-usual cycle. For instance, if you ovulate 12 days before your period, stress early in your cycle could have caused ovulation to be late, perhaps on day 30 when it's normally on day 20 for you. Then, your cycle would have been 42 days long instead of your usual 32. And what you *thought* was 3 days before your period would have, in fact, been 13 days before your period.

The short answer is you can't get pregnant 3 days before your period, but you *can* get pregnant 3 days before you think your period is *due*.

If you know when you are ovulating and your period is regular then having sex 3 days before your period is safe. I know exactly when I am ovulating and when my period is due so my husband and I can enjoy sex without a condom. If you are not certain of your cycle then use protection to be safe.

It depends. Some women can and some women can't. It just depends on your body's cycle. If you really want to know if you can get pregnant that close to your period, buy some ovulation test kits so that you can see when your body ovulates.
