Their friendship is a function of political affairs and interests of Western nations...in the region...

If you notice, India gained independence around 1947, right after WWII, at that time they opposed England, which actually was ally of US...

Afterwards...from 1950s to 1990s...Indian Government had very close ties to Russia...just because funding for alot of projects came from Russia...Cold war era...Pakistan was an ally of US...India with Russia...India and Pakistan had its differences back then...

Now that Cold war is over...and China is emerging as global economic powerhouse...US once again shows interests in India's efforts...and just because Pakistan is in the region, US wants close ties just because of Terrorism control efforts...in the backdrop...which normally we don't see is a game being played and US is playing both the countries by offering financial funding (prime reason to consider)...so that US can use them in the future just in case it had to go to war with China! So long US wants it...they will stay passive...

It's a nice thought but I don't think it will happen in the near future.Radical Islam in Pakistan is still too prevalent and that is really not helping with the Kashmir stalemate.Perhaps in the more distant future though. One can only hope.

Yes...one day they will be part of the same state...Asia. Globalization is happening before our very eyes and eventually there will be one government for the whole world. This is the plan, and it dictates the wars we fight today....
