we want a sunflower garden and we've never had this problem before, but for some reason this year they all keep on getting eaten, what do we do? we already put up chichen wire and the only pssibility is that it's a bird or that it climbed over what could have happened, we live in illinois...

I suppose chipmunks could have done it, but I'd be more concerned about squirrels (the tree dwelling variety)

Chipmunks can climb up trees and jump all around - they are super fast and are smaller than squirrels.

Chipmunks that are hungry enough can climb. Or you may have squirrels as well as chipmunks.
Chipmunks can also tunnel under fences.

hi there! i'm from wisconsin...i love chipmunks so much!!! hehe. they're adorable. i hope the chicken wire doesn't hurt the animals..and that they'll stay away so they don't get hurt.

chipmunks are very good climbers,like squirrels which could be your culprit also
