mostly tourism is the #1 industry,fruits such as pinapple
have been slowly phased out including DOLE which closed another plantation this year, and sugar cane is still there but is very limited since the cane is being produced in more abundance in other countries. shipping and export still very busy since hawaii is the U.S. 's furthest point west and gateway to asia and indonesia.
