if my Doctor removes my ovaries because of cancer will I be murdering them? Or is it only after the man puts in his 2 seconds uh...I mean his 2 cents that the potential life is now important?

No, most people do not believe life begins at conception....everyone carries potential life but it cannont survive outside the uterus. If you haven't figured out by now, I'm feeling scrappy and I'm trying to get a rise out of you....

Nope, you still don't get it...not talking about cancer, lost my mother the same way, and just had a scare myself.....keep thinking, it may come to you.

No, because women don't undergo parthenogenesis...and your 2 and 2 reference is pretty darn funny!

First of all, you don't have thousands, just about 400-450 eggs.

Ovulation starts at about 12, ends at about 45-50.. about 33 to 38 years.. you ovulate 12 times each year, therefore 12x33 to 12x38 or somewhere between 396 and 456 ova.

anyways that out of the way: life started millions of years back when the chemical processes kick started the whole protein synthesis thing. Life hasn't stopped since then. Regardless of what the "religious" folks will tell you, if God created life it was long long ago... the act of procreation is just that PROcreation or REproduction. A continuation of the process started long ago. You are alive, every cell is alive.. and each ovum is alive too. So are you killing a few hundred lives if you get rid of the ovaries? Well to be consistent yes with religion, yes. And to be consistent with science, you are killing some cells, but you are not killing a person.
The whole life begins at conception and you can't have life unless a man donates his sperm is just a patriarchal sexist theory that puts man in power saying that men are the one that create life by contributing the sperm and it is therefore wrong to end that life.
What about artificial insemination? Is that conception? Sperm and egg in a test-tube or petri-dish? Ask these men if they would still have the same views if the only way to have children was through artificial insemination and the men wouldn't know who the mother is. Donate your sperm, let the women choose their baby's daddy from a shelf of jars. Lets see how the theory changes.

Y'know, I seriously doubt that many folks have a problem with destroying a potential life (or even thousands of them) to save the life of the mother, who is no longer just potential.

I'm sure a few do, but the majority of Americans (I can speak about no other nation's people)--even those opposed to abortion--wouldn't think twice, and wouldn't consider infringing on another woman's choice to do so.

But to sneer in such a way at those who are upset by the "Damn, another baby in me, and I have a career. How inconvenient." attitude which some women have is a bit closed-minded for a liberal, wouldn't you say?

Just because you hear more from the dumb sheep who parrot what some TV evangelist said, doesn't mean that those of us who believe that the laws should be more restrictive are idiots, and have not searched our hearts to come to our opinions. I believe that abortion may be too easy, and the moral responsibility for a life a couple created should probably weigh a bit more heavily than my nation's laws seem to indicate.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't hold my friend or daughter's hand after the procedure if that was what she needed. I might suggest alternative options before, but after, I'd just love her.

I'm assuming that this is one of those suppositional questions. OK, most people believe that life begins at conception. If you start thinking that each egg gone is a potential life gone, you will be in mourning every month when you menstruate. If this scenario happened, and you potentially had to have a complete hysterectomy, adoption is still an option. You could still be a parent, and there are many children in the world who need someone to love and take care of them.

It's 50/50. not 2 seconds, 2 cents or 2%. Without man's sperm you can not have a child, silly. Only at conception is it a child. Also remember that you can't create any thing. God creates the baby inside. Ofcourse how you take care of your unborn child is your responsibility.

Only after the other half of the DNA strand from the male joins in.

The eggs that you carry are slowly depleted every time you have a period. So there have been many thrown in the trash or flushed already.

No its not murder. If that was the case every time you had a period and expelled an egg it would be murder which it's not.

you would not be killing anyone unless you were pregnant, but it is sad that you have canser, and i am sorry. Dont think about it like you are killing, but saving yourself.
