We were created to honor, love, worship and serve God. To the 'human ear' I know how that sounds - but you have to listen with your spiritual ears to know that your purpose and right to be here was very special. We were created in the likeness and image of the one and only true God. We were created as His family - to have a relationship that would have been different from the angels. We were closer and more intimate - special. That was usurped when satan reared his ugly head, but thanks be to Jesus, we have been redeemed and our relationship has been restored!

A friend of mine says that God created humans from love. The reason of his creation is the deepest connection with God.He gave them free will to choose if they want to stay with Him or not.Whoever stays by Him understands the real meaning of life.Whoever goes away from Him gets lost, like a sheep which goes away from the sheep keeper and get lost.Human was created like the image of God in order to become a little ''God''.The human nature is both spiritual and materialistic if you know what i mean.Human is a full of love and freedom. He is in a spiritual relationship with God.This relationship drives him to a deeperst connection with Lord. This is something which makes the difference between human and all other creatures.
P.S My friend is very religious and Greek Orthodox

God created us so that He could express himself, much like an artists picture expresses the artist. One song says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy work."
It is rather hard to see this when it comes to rotten, weak, and trouble filled human beings. Yet, like the rest of creation, we were created to reflect the glory of God. We are beings in whom God can express His nature as a saviour, a redeemer, a provider, a healer, as peace, as hope and as love. If we were perfect, God would not get the glory.
So I say, we were created as a means for God to express Himself.

The irrationality of religion has a scientific basis. It goes back to our cave man days when man was very insecure living in a hostile environment. The cerebral cortex of our brain (the complex thinking apparatus) is a relatively recent addition.
The more primitive underlying limbic system, the seat of our ancient emotions or innate temperaments, is in all of us. Humans use both systems. In times of trouble, people still pray for intervention by the god(s). Prayers are requests by persons to have the laws of the universe repealed in their favor.
People who are rational, relying on their cerebral cortex, look at all the absurdities in religion. Christian dogma expects people to believe the fairy tale of Noah's ark, although it is patently impossible to squeeze even samples of billions of the world's animals into one small ark. Rational persons consider such stories ludicrous.
The bible account of the creation of man and the universe is in such contradiction to irrefutable facts that a rational person cannot help but laugh about such fantasies.
Have you heard the saying "there's no atheists in foxholes?" Its because in times of danger, humans revert to the primitive part of their brain for security. We needed religion to survive in a hostile universe back in the cave man days. Now, in the modern era, we can see all the absurdities of the varius religions....but, obsolete genes do not disappear overnight, and so you will be seeing people "asking why did God crate Us?"

A born-again told me, although I'm paraphrasing, but it's pretty much because he was bored and lonely and wanted someone to talk to. That's also the reason he supposedly gave us free will; 'cause it's no fun talking to dolls, you'd just be talking to yourself. So, we're His intelligent playmates, here for his amusement. So let's make merry and make things interesting for the ultimate voyeur! Otherwise, he might decide we're boring and do something himself to spice us up. Like send another Katrina, so he can Bush get called racist again.

Don't worry , every leaving person has a own personal answer to that question, so there's no way you can say in global why. You can just say he did because he have plans for us.
