"Isn't it about time for you to go?"

"Do you want me to go?"

"Don't you have somewhere to be?"

"Same time next week?"

"You'll be here won't you?"

"Can I expect you to be on time?"

"Am I ever late?"

And with that the one psychologist leaves the room.

It would depend on what they were talking about. If the psychologists are talking about a client then niehter would be doing anything wrong and the same with talking about their personal life the confidentuality would still have to kept up. The rule that all psychologist answer all questions with questions, it would help them to find the correct information the convisation would end when both the client and the psychologist are ready to end it or if the time had run out.

I didnt know it was a rule to answer a question with a question!

One of the therapists has a problem and is going to another for help. They are not going to try to out question each other. You ask questions for clarification, not to make the client run in circles.

How it would go:
Therapist A has a problem. They go to therapist B. B does an intake and assess some of the issues that are affecting A. They decide on goals (how the sessions should go and what to work on). A talks about thier life and B listens and asks questions when needed for clarification or to draw attention to something that was said.

Psychologists sometimes do go to their own psychologists to talk about their own problems. I don't think it's a problem. The psychologist that is seeking help would simply change roles. They know the drill. They know what they are there to do. I'm sure they wouldn't waste time asking nonsensical questions if they were on the clock - an expensive clock, at that.

What happens exactly depends on why the person is going to the psychologist and the school of thought the psychologist comes from. Basically you are there to talk about yourself and the psychologist will use his/her understanding of people to help coach you to get through or cope with your emotional/psychological problems. Additionally, there are many schools of psychology, but they basically brake down into two typical groups: -Psychotherapy -Cognitive behavioral therapy I would check my sources if you would like to know more about them.

Didn't I just answer this one last night? Did yahoo remove it or were you not happy with the responses?

Psychologists are not all egomaniacs. They are capable of taking the role as the patient. It wouldn't be a large battle of ego and brain. It would end with one psychologist (hopefully) receiving the help that he was seeking.

Why do you think this subject interest you?

Seriously, every counselor I have ever know has a counselor. It is of the utmost importance that folks who try to help others through troubled waters maintain a firm grasp on their own rudder. Some of the things these counselors hear would turn your hair white. They really need to vent, just like the rest of us.

BTW, Priests also confess their sins to other Priests.

actually it would really be tough, cause he already knows the answers and how the other psychologist would respond to his questions.....which can be really annoying....
but in general....psychologists seek other psychologists to talk, and talk and talk.......that's all they need. They want someone to listen to them for once....so it can be very therapeutic...
hope that answered your question
