I was worried that my laptop was overheating, so i got a utility (SpeedFan) that monitors the internal temp. I also tried this on my brother's desktop. Both seem to run at about 100 deg F when doing minimal tasks (like browsing the web) in a room with an ambient temp of about 72 F. 100 is a bit hotter than I expected, but it seems normal on both. My question though is how hot is TOO hot??

Thanks for the help!!!!

100F is okay. What you need to do is measure the under load temperatures, I can't tell you anything based on idle temps. Any temperature approaching say, 150F is unacceptable.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. One hundred degrees Fahrenheit is actually kind of cool for some components.

Check out the site below [1]. Notice the temperatures are in Celsius. You can use an online conversion calculator [2] to see what this means in Fahrenheit.

At about 131 degrees, Fahrenheit, my systems all sound alarms. You can set the temperatures in the CMOS SETUP screens. Usually under the label "PCHealth"...
