my state, Missouri, uses lethal injection.
i can't help but think that its too good a way for some of the prisoners to die.
a few years back we had 3-4 black men out for a little 'fun' on a weekend evening. they found 2 gals and a guy out walking. they beat the hell out of the guy---i don't know if he survived the beating or not. they raped AND beat the girls and then threw them OFF A FRIGGIN BRIDGE INTO THE MISSISSIPPI!
man, that ain't right. so they're caught, becase they were BRAGGIN about it! they are tried and convicted and spend the next 15 or so years on death row appealing their sentence.
then when all appeals are exhausted and our governor won't issue the bastards a pardon, they are led into a little room, an iv is set up, a button is pushed and a series of three drugs are infused into the prisoner. the first puts the bastard to sleep, the next paralyzes his breathing and the third stops his heart. to me, this is just TOO easy a way to go after what they did to the 3 white people almost 20 years go.
and of course, there were the usual gang of idiots outside the prison protesting the "unfair" and "inhumane" treatment of the prisoners. puhleeze!
i'd say lethal injection--it gets the job done and is cheap. probably not as cheap as a bullet or a few jolts of electricity, but it works,

I have given a lot of thought about our judicial and penal systems. I have come up with several conclusions,
1 No matter how many prisons we build, they will allways be
full and overcrowed and many of the people in them doesn't
need to be there, non violent offenders, persons who are no threat to society.
2.The judicial and penal systems create a large part of our
economic system, The more laws we create, the more criminals
we have. the more criminals we have the more cops we need,
The more lawers, judges, prisons ect. ect. Just think of all the employment these systems create. The problem is, It is our tax dollars that is funding all of it ,and it can only grow larger.
We need to rethink and completely overhaul these systems.
I think the best way to start changing the laws for the better is to take the money out of it. No more fines or monetary penalties.
No more case law. A better term for "case law" would be "lazy law". Its much simpler and easier to do case law where precedence rules. Every person is an individual and should be tried as an indivdual. As much as possable the punishment should fit the crime.
Let me try to get back to your question.
Instead of executing criminals or locking them away for long periods of time, lets make them pay their debt to society in a way that society will benefit.
Lets build several ships for a one way trip to the moon and start
by sending 500 prisoners to begin construction on a moon base.
Since most of the base would be underground, the prisoners would start by digging a great big cave with a small airlock entrance that could be sealed to hold oxygen. These prisoners would be the first colonists.
There is much, much more to be said but I'm sure you can see
the benefits of what I am saying.

While it seems blood-thirsty, I say give them the same as they gave others. Let them experience the sufferings of their victims. But we have the humane society to think about. We have to be kind. Many people advocate that capital punishment does not deter crime. Yes it does not because of the weakness of the courts in executing the convicted murderers. How many people are in prison for many years awaiting their death and they are stayed by the court or reprieved or even pardoned. In the current trial of Saddam, if he is given the death penalty, do you think it would ever be carried out? Is this a sham? Let them suffer as did the victims, though we might be hard pressed to find executioners of such depravity.

There is no " BEST " way to execute people because like others say we would be no better than the convicts, but they should be dealt with and waiting in prison to die is like grounding teenagers. Although convicts can be used to the gov't's advantage by keeping the highways and land clean, they did do harm to it before. We all do the same mistakes as they made probably, and though you won't find this important we all kill lives.

There is NO best way to execute anyone, criminals or not. If we execute criminals, we are committing murder and that would make us no better than those we execute.

there's no best way to execute criminals. They should just rot in jail and capitalist f**ks like George Bush shouldn't be able to make money off their hard labor.
*GB owns 85% of the prisions in Texas.

I don't think execution is good...it is an easy out. People who committ horrendous crimes need to live with the bare minimal requirements for their survival and be reminded every day about the crimes they committed. Execution is an easy out, in my opinion. They should live and be miserable.
