My best guess? Frustration with the Jedi Council for not being made a Jedi Master, suspicion of the Chancellor by the Council and the use of Anakin as their pawn, and the loyalty of Anakin to the Chancellor.

Anakin has a vision of Padme dying in labor.Chancellor Palpatine tells him that the Dark Side has the power to save the ones he cares about. Since Anakin loves Padme, he became the padawan learner of Darth Sidious/Palpatine.It has nothing to do with the death of his mother.( Shmi Skywalker)

If Anakin didn't turn evil, that would of caused a massive continuity problem leading into Episodes 4,5,6.

the man was never meant to be a jedi... dude got forced into it... he just kinda fell into it.... just went along with it.... but that friggin Obi Wan kept ordering him around instead of teaching him new stuff right.... and Ani with all his thirst for knowledge found a new leader... who just happened to be evil and knew the dark force like the back of his hand.... he needed a student... Anakin needed a teacher.... it was meant to be man...
The only way to steer another person's path is to keep challenging them with new information.... otherwise your student will get bored..... idle hands do bad things man.... Obi Wan with all his Jedi mind tricks couldn't figure that out....

Because he wants the alleged power to help his wife, who he ends up killing by way of magicallyl choking her. Plus the fact that the evil politician, who turns out to be the Evil Empreor, has him charmed into believing that it's the only answer.

He was seduced by the dark side, he wanted to save Pad'me so badly that he had to save Palpatine from being killed by Mace, He assisted in killing Mace, and knew he could not turn back. He let himself believe the lie that he was doing the right thing, mostly because he was not started down a path he could not turn back from.

Because the republic wouldn't concede that he was good enough to become a Jedi yet, so he went with the sith lord who told him he was more than ready... so he went that way, and because he was told he would be in command or whatever you call that position.

He thought that going to the dark side would save his wife. He was wrong, the chancellor was trying to trick him to turn to the dark side and kill all jedis (the only ones to survive are Obi Wan and Yoda).
