Can anyone tell me the cheapest State in the Northwest to live in on SSI? Rural living is preferred. Thanks.?

California has Med-i-cal, which is a benefit, and they add $317.00 a month to the Federal SSI payment, but living here is expensive. I love the High Desert, but I miss the mountians, and freshwater fishing. I will appreciate all answers.

If you are looking for the cheapest... Idaho. Lots of rural area, areas with beautiful mountains, fishing. Snake river area.
Also high desert.

Or possibly Eastern Oregon.

Shasts County CA. Go 35 miles north of Redding.There are small rural communities all round that area.There is no work there so you should be able to get a reasonably priced place to live.If I had a monthly income that is where I would be.

Try Oregon- My hubby used to live ther and is always wanting to go back... can't yet, though. But all that you mentioned is there. He used to live in Redmond, near Bend. He said the "Cove" is awesome...
