I'm a lesbian in a small town in SC and I would love to have the opportunity to go to pride celebrations and such but we have almost nothing going on in way of a gay community. Does anyone else besides me feel it's easier to be out and full of pride in larger metro areas than in small towns.

If so how can we work on that?

Of course it is....

The journey is easier and more supportive. That's why so many move into a city or very near.

The real challenge is coming out in a red necked trailer park... well... I suppose it could be - haven't lived anywhere near red necked since Biloxi Mississippi.

I imagine a large city would have a better outlet for such things. I question the use of the term "pride." If gays are born, which many believe, what 'pride" can you have in an accident of birth? Pride should come from something accomplished by teh individual, not merely as being one of a group. But, good luck!

Of course it is easier...by far. I cannot imagine being Gay in a small town..talk about talk! Move thine hind end (and the rest of you) to a large city .. you will find great happiness, but the trade off is that you have to be a lot more careful in where you go and how you get there. Crime is a big problem.

Move to Atlanta! The Metro Area is a great place for anyone gay or bisexual. We have the largest African American homosexual community in the country too.

That goes without saying. I'm from a small east Texas town. When I moved to Dallas, it was totally different.
