I was reading an article on a man who was in prison and advertised on the web for a pen pal and wondered if anyone really responded to this kind of thing.

I've heard it has been done before. If it was an organized program by a legit company, then yeah, i think i would. It would be interesting seeing how it's like in there and why they did what they did.

While I don't currently have any penpals (not counting online stuff), let alone one that is incarcerated, I don't see why that would be a problem.

Open communication, friendship, companionship. These are all things that everyone wants, and if that can be provided to someone, no matter who, then this is a good thing.

Um, that being said, I would probably not want my address known, so I'd probably use a P.O. Box or the like. Of course that would depend on what they were in there for.

Love as always,

Sebastian

ive had a prison pen pal.. just like a year back.

theyre very loney people, and often times dont have any family. the people in prision, arent friend material, so they seek the outside world. the one i got was super friendly and respectful. he talked about all sorts of things - life, sports, pets, religion.

and he was an artist. he loved painting and drawing. especially tigers. he was a good guy.

i would say - go for it. as long as your over 18. you never know what you may find. i found a good sincere person who just needed someone to talk to and im sure i made his life a little better. :)

I would be a little bit scared of that. I generally try not to associate with "bad" people or even people that mix with other "bad" people.

If I did, I don't think I would want them having my actual address - maybe a post box or something.
