Yes....I've been there many times where my shyness prevented me from doing the things in life that I've always wanted. To break shyness....you have to start small and you have to accept failure as the path to success. First, talk to people and make eye-contact....that doesn't mean stare into their eyes....just be responsive and give feedback. Always listen to people.....take what you want from them and disregard the things you don't. Secondly.....find respect in yourself. If you are overweight....lose the weight.......If you are nerdy.....play a sport.....and if you are shy.....try to start conversations with people. I know it sounds scary as hell at first....but once you do it for a while....you will feel so much better about yourself. The first couple of times you do it....you might feel like you are failing, but I assure you, the more you do it...and the you perfect your skill at communicating with others....the happier you'll be. Communication is what makes the world go round....the more connections we've got....the better our lives can be. Each person you meet can be a valuable asset to you life. Just talk to people.....give them eye contact....respond to them.....do things that make you happy and improve on some of societies norms (Like being in decent shape and groomed). I hope I've helped. :)

Find subjects you are comfortable and knowledgeable about and talk about those. Go places where you are comfy. If you know a lot about art, hang out in galleries and talk art.
