Frankly my dear I don't give a damn!
Captain Rhett Butler said this to Scarlett O'Hara at the end of the movie I absolutely love it.

I do like "frankly my dear,..." But another is, "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!" Also, when Rhett decides to go off and join the troops, he had a great line about a Lost Cause being the ionly kind worth fighting for. Then there is the scene when the menfolk are out chasing off the riffraff, and Scarlett, Melanie and the women are alone at home, Melanie, hearing the union soldiers approach, tells Mammy? Prissy? to hand her the revolver. She does it almost coldly, and you can see a steel core inside her usually too-good-to-be-true character. I understand she was a bit milquetoast in the book, but Olivia Dehavilland wasn't going to play her that way (I admit to a strong bias in her favor, 'cause I've been in love with her for years!)

Favorite quotes by Character
Rhett With enough courage, you can do without a reputation.

Scarlett: Fiddle-dee-dee. War, war, war; this war talk's spoiling all the fun at every party this spring. I get so bored I could scream. Besides... there isn't going to be any war.

I DON'T HAVE A FAVORITE...I HATE THE MOVIE..IT WAS BORING AND LASTED TO LONG......IT SUCKS AND I THINK IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME TO WATCH....LOL JUST KIDDING....I LIKE THE FAMOUS QUOTE, SCARLETT O'HARA SAYS "OH RHETT WHAT SHOULD I DO, WHERE SHALL I GO?" AND RHETT BUTLER SAYS....."FRANKLY MY DEAR, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!" BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IN THE SEQUEL CALLED "SCARLETT" RHETT AND SCARLETT GET BACK TOGETHER AND HAVE ANOTHER CHILD AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.......YAY!

"I'm very drunk and I intend on getting still drunker before this evening's over. "

"Great balls of fire. Don't bother me anymore, and don't call me sugar."

"My darling, you're such a child. You think that by saying, "I'm sorry," all the past can be corrected. Here, take my handkerchief. Never, at any crisis of your life, have I known you to have a handkerchief. "

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

"As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."

"You know what trouble I's talkin' 'bout. Mr. Ashley be comin' to Atlanta when he get's his leave, and you sattin' there waitin' for him, just like a spider."

"A cat's a better mother than you."

"You're like the thief who isn't the least bit sorry he stole, but is terribly, terribly sorry he's going to jail."

"Take a good look my dear. It's an historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about - how you watched the Old South fall one night."

"Do you mean to tell me, Katie Scarlett O'Hara, that Tara, that land doesn't mean anything to you? Why, land is the only thing in the world worth workin' for, worth fightin' for, worth dyin' for, because it's the only thing that lasts."

I don't have a favourite quote, but I love making the dress out of the curtains ...... and then seeing the old Carol Burnett sitcom version of it. HILARIOUS!

It's what most people think of but its wonderful and you just want to think you'd have the guts to say that to someone one day (if they deserved it of course)
