Area of rectangle = length x width
Area of a circle = pi x R x R = pi R^2 where pi~3.14 and R - radius
Area of an ellipse = pi x a x b see http://www.tpub.com/content/engineering/14069/css/14069_33.htm

Volume = area of the base times hight
Volume of a rectangular prism= area of rectangle x height = length x width x height
Volume of a sphere = (4/3)pi x R x R x R = (4/3)pi x R^3

Check math tables or the web for equation of other geometric figures

Percentage = 100 x (partial amount) / (total amount)

Volume - Lenght X Width X Height

Area - Length X Width

Percentage - (sorry can only give an example)
If you get 18 out of 20 in a test, multiply 18 by 100 then divide your answer by 20. e.g 18 X 100 = 1800 divided by 20 = 90%

Hope this helps you!!

As well as the other tips (all of which are good) and you are struggling, ask your teacher for some help. They would rather you did not panic and get yourself tied up in knots about what could easily be solved if you spoke to them!

Volume and area depends upon the shape, so we would need more information. However, for 'cube' shapes, the volume is length x width x height and area is length x width
Remember to show the difference by making it x² for area (eg 12cm²) and x³ for volume (eg 12cm³)

For percentages, if you have 60 socks, and 12 of them are red, to work out what percentage are red, here are step by step instructions for what you do:

red socks
------------- X 100
total socks

12
--- X 100
60

1
--- X 100
5

0.2 X 100

Therefore 20% of the socks are red.

Volume and area depends on the shape eg the area of a circle is the radius squared by pi. Look up your math text or look up the shape in question in wikipedia.

Percentage is somewhat easier. x as a percent of y is x divided by y times 100

adequate, lets are putting forward she paid 'x' for the laptop. She presented the laptop for a income of 25%. Or, x + 25% of x = 60 or, x + (25/100)* x = 60 or, x + (a million/4) * x = 60 or, x (a million + a million/4) = 60 or, x (5/4) = 60 or, x = 60 * 4 / 5 for this reason, x = 40 8 So, Chrissie paid £40 8 for the laptop! :)
