We just bought this little ole' house out in the country side of kentucky, and my city-boy boyfriend is scared of wild animals, we one day was cleaning out the basement and found a littler of ratcoons, it was funny to see my boyfriend run up stares yelling.lol
What should i do with the babies? should i leave them there for the mother to get them? or should i take care of them myself? the mother could have just left them there

Call the DNR & ask them what you should do, you could get bit if the mother shows up, and then they have to capture the mother, & cut off her head and send it away to find out if she is rabid. Your boyfriend sounds like a real wous.

if mother comes back, she will do it soon. then it is good. and your bf will eventually get a practical lesson on wildlife and he will start loving them!
if their mom doesnt turn up, it is your humane duty to either call some animal charity that can handle this, or take things in your hands. The point is how old they are - do they look that they are yet small, and they would still need the mother badly (like the mother is probably dead or so) or that they are and should be on their own? You should take them to a vet to be sure they are not sick, to vaccinate them and get them antiparasitic stuff - even if the racoons were left to be on their own. The vet can give u all the advice. Racoons are great fun and fairly clever, if i were u i would keep them as pets. The new place simply NEEDS some pets, some life, some local spirit. It will challenge te prejudices of your boyfriend, too. pls tell us what is going on!!!!!

Animal Control is the best answer for 2 reasons: 1) diseases and you have other pets right??
2) Are you trained to raise them. They aren't like puppies and kittens who need human contact.

I would call animal control. They can easily remove the animals without hurting them. Plus raccoons can have rabies. I know they are cute but raccoons can be vicious so you should get them out as soon as possible.
