My great grandmother took me in and raised me. She was in her sixties when she did so. She had raised her kids and some grandkids and still had the energy and love to raise me as well.

Not sure, whether it's the kindest thing, but it just popped in my mind. I was visiting Frankfurt, Germany as a tourist, and on an early Saturday morning was looking for a bank to exchange money (it was before euro). All places seemed to be closed, I was getting desperate and asked a man on the street where I can find the one that is open at this time. He did not seem to know. I walked down the street for maybe 10 min, when I heard some man shouting behind me. It appeared to be the same man I asked; he accidentally found an open exchange place and ran out of his way to catch me and tell me. It was really very kind of him. I myself not sure whether I would have gone into so much trouble to help a stranger...

This may sound strange, but, she married me. And I have / had a PATHETIC marriage history, and was always VERY INDEPENDENT, but somehow she saw something in me, unless she was just dreaming or otherwise halucinating, and decided that I was old enough now to calm down, relate to someone in a giving and rewarding fashion, and stay in a marital relationship for more than 3 or 4 years. Well, she's right on the last part since we celebrated our 12th anniversary earlier this year, but I still ain't got it figured what she sees in me, although she's repeatedly told me, and sometimes I seriously doubt whether I'm worth sticking around. But she's made me see things about myself that maybe show me that I wasn't as "bad" as I had thought, and that has been the greatest blessing I've ever had. I still can't figure how she "saw" all that. Maybe she's living in a fantasy world, but, what the heck, she's been the best thing in my life, she and my kids, and I wouldn't do anything to lose her . . . well, I'd try not to. Thanks for asking and keeping me aware of just how good she is. God Bless you.

I was downtown and at a parking meter and realized I had no change. I asked an older African American man who appeared to be lower income if he had change for a dollar....He said "No, but here is a quarter. People have done me bigger favors than this. Pass it on."

That was years ago and I have made this comment to MANY people since then, asking for nothing in return. It makes them feel good and I do believe it comes back to you.

I've had so many special kind things done for me that I can't list one of them as THE KINDEST. I just wanted to make an acknowledgment of them all right now as your question has made me feel lucky, and blessed as I've remembered and taken count on a day that hasn't felt so lucky and blessed. Thanks for asking it!

Well, last year, me and my guy were flat broke. We couldn't even afford to buy a pint of milk. My guy happened to mention to someone who he works with how skint he was and the very next day, this guy came to work with 3 carrier bags full of groceries for us. He had been out to a local supermarket specially to buy us some food and drinks. How nice was that? What an incredibly thoughtful guy!

i agree with modictionary, but also taking me to get this operation on my eyes to un-cross them when i was about 11 or 12.. it helped me see things more easily, both literally and metaphorically. i realized what some people have to go through, especially older people when their vision fails or their eyes are just kind of messed up and have to go through different things to get it right. actually, when i woke up after it, i couldnt open my eyes for like, 5 minutes, and my mom had told me she wasn't even sure if i was going to wake up because the anesthesia had knocked me out for so long (and i was vomiting for several hours afterward- it was nasty). not a fun time but quite enlightening.

This is a hard one ..... made me believe in myself....taught me important values....financially supported my schooling. It a tough one because I have had many mentors over the years, each guiding different aspects of my life. I keep seeking them out though...because for me they really make the difference.
