If you're trying to whiten clothes, try putting blueing in your wash. It's sold in the laundry section of grocery stores (may be hard to find.) Drying cotton in sunlight will help keep it white, if it hasn't been treated with something....unfortunately sunlight may yellow white synthetic fabrics, but they shouldn't be bleached, either. If you're trying to disinfect things, use boiling water where possible, or hydrogen peroxide. To remove stains from countertops, instead of bleach scrub with baking soda and lemon juice.

If it's for laundry, try one of the bleach alternatives. For other uses, like disenfecting or freshening a sink, try baking soda or hydrogen peroxide.

For general cleaning, lysol. For laundry, try borax or oxyclean. I have to watch out for bleach sensitivity too, though it's not as extreme as it used to be.
