If your scars are new, and the incision or wound is no longer oozing, you can take a vitamin E capsule, puncture it with a clean pin and squeeze the contents on the area. You can also combine this with a combination vitamin A & D capsule used in the same way to promote faster healing. The A & D doesn't smell too good but the results are worth it. Be sure to use only the oil filled capsules for both the vitamin E and the A & D if you decide to use it. I have had 15 major operations and the only bad scars I have are the ones that I didn't do this. If your scars are old, there are a number of products on the market that can help them fade or look better. You should be able to find them at your local drug store or online. Here is a link for you:

Don't worry, everything will turn out fine. I'm sure they look much worse to you than they actually do to others. Let your inner beauty shine through.

I am currently using a product called New Skin Scar Therapy for a keloid on the cartilage of my ear due to a piercing; and a scar I have on my arm I recieved from a scratch from my cat. I have been using it for three days now, and the results are going great for both areas.

I know that there is a product called mederma that you can buy at your local drug store that is supposed to help scars dissapear but I would check with a dermatologist first becasue i think they even have laser treatments or chemical peels for scars.

Check out this website:
http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/product/facelift/scarhealing/index.vm?procid=7&catid=78&OVRAW=cream%20scar&OVKEY=scar%20cream&OVMTC=standard
there are various creams that speed up the healing of scars on there. But they will take time and I don't know how bad the scarring is and how long it's been there.
Also try polysporin, it's supposed to speed healing.

Mederma works pretty well, but it is expensive and takes a long time - we're talking months and/or years, depending on your scar. Your best bet is to talk to a dermatologist.
If it is a flat scar, you can try using light-reflective make-up to cover it.

I don't know about prescriptions (ask your doc) but there are some over the coounter creams you can use. But they have to be applied diligently 2-3 times daily and can take up to 6 weeks for results to show. As far as i know there are no 'quick fixes' other then make up artistry.
