I've seen products that claim to prevent ingrown hair and moisturize the skin, yada yada, but I haven't tried them. Has anyone else done so; lived to tell their tale?
Any other prevention methods besides merchandise? Does the brand/build of razor matter? And is there a recommended "gel" to apply before/after shaving (legs) to soothe, so red spots/itchy burning feeling wouldn't occur? All answers are appreciated.

I use this product to shave my legs and has worked wonders fo r my skin .... i had the same problem with that, i couldn't use any lotions after wards only a little bit the day after....and after shaving i would feel terrible and a rash would happen for sure ... i couldnt shave every week had to wait more thatn 3 weeks... never could use shorts.... aggghhh those dyas are gone....The problem is that we do not avoid using products containing alcohol or fragrances, these irritate your skin. Bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer. Also, using fragrances or chemicals or dyes are known irritants and can cause allergic reactions. what i use to shave my legs would be a face wash formulatted without these i have told you about ... it is called Nutrimin-C RE9 Face wash: look for it at the left margin under anti-aging.... I know it is a face wash but honestly it is great and leaves your skin smooth and shinny.... and after that you can put their body lotion fast without waiting for it will not give you a reaction or sting.... https://secure.myarbonne.com/arbonne/arb...

I think in the US there is a product called "Tend Skin". You should be able to get it at a salon or spa where hair removal is one of the services provided. This works very well for both women's shaving areas as well as men's faces to help prevent ingrown hairs. There used to be a shaving lotion for men too. Maybe you can check it out on line. It takes away the redness right away. There's also another product called Kalo, Ingrown Hair Treatment, I'm not sure if this one is available in the US though but it is in Canada. Hope this can be of some help.

i've tried "bikini zone" (which is supposed to be just for the bikini area, but i use it on my arms and legs as well) and it works pretty well. it has an exfoliater in it so while you're rubbing it in, it's taking off some dead skin, which should prevent bumps.

you should always use a fresh, clean and sharp razor to shave any sensitive areas, and replace them after two weeks at the most.

i've tried a few other products also, but in my experience, nothing completely eliminates bumps besides waxing. even the store bought DIY waxing strips work well and it lasts at least 3-4 weeks.

hope this helped

I go to Walmart and get this shave gel that's in a small bottle like face wash comes in...it's not like regular shave gel. It's a greenish color and it's called something like "anit bumps shave gel" and it's made by bikini zone. It works REALLY well. I've never gotten shave bumps anytime I've used it.
