Why don't you record something, then start your own myspace music page? That way you can start attracting fans, however, usually people with the attitude that they are just doing it to "get famous" don't get anywhere, (with the exception of Kid Rock). Most people do it because they "love it."

First stop with the "wishing". Do what every other big star did that didn't run into a CEO of a record company. Save up some money, start putting songs on tapes and Cd's, then do gigs at show places or different jazz clubs that have amature nights, start selling those Cd's out your trunks.. A little hard work goes a long way.. Most artists started out in the underground.. Also you might have to look what gener your style falls in and whats hot right now is pop/ R&B/ hip-hop.. goodluck.. also look at you local radio stations. They might have amature hour. where you send in a CD and they play it for lisners vote on your songs..

If you REALLY, TRULY want to persue a career in this DOG EAT DOG BUSINESS (I mean that from my heart), you have to prepare yourself and arm yourself with information. Writing songs is not even the half of it. Being in the "garage" phase means nothing either. I have known groups to have just opened their mouths and had not even determined the name, and someone snatched them up - on the other hand - there are folks who have been struggling for 10 years without luck. But you are IN luck - why? Because this is a new century and you have more access and availability to technology which can help propel you. You can produce and write and distribute your own 'stuff' without the help of a record company UNTIL it's really time. But you have to work your butt off to get it done. Signing with a record company "used" to be the "thing", but not anymore. Check out MYSPACE (B. Howard/Emeka) and others who have hits and radio airplay, but they are doing it big yo' on their own.

pray. There are millions of people out there that want to be famous, and chances are you don't stand out from any of them. Go to college, get an awesome degree, work hard, and one day you can be a famous CEO.

It takes persistence, consistency, and a LOT of hard work. If you keep it and get yourself out there, you will make it. Be brave and ask a lot of questions.
