multiply both sides by the reciprocal of the coefficient of x:

(-7/4)(-4/7)x=(-7/4)(2/5)

x=(-7/10)

now you have to divide each side by -4/7

-4/7/-4/7*x=2/5/-4/7

now to divide a fraction you take the reciprical of the second fraction and multiply so you have:

x=2/5*7/-4

this is what you get..

x=14/-20

simplified...

x=-7/10

now plug back into the solution and remember a negative*negative=positive

-4/7*-7/10=
28/70=14/35=2/5

so this solution works so the answer is
-7/10 or -.7
