Depends on where you are now. Chicago is a great place to do all those things. Very large and supportive communities for the arts, but a bit cold. OR try the Washington. DC area there's lots of stuff going on in and around that area in Virginia, Maryland and DC. I'm in this area and the variety of things to do and be part of is wide, interesting and in some respects cutting edge. Plus, you get all the seasons!
