Living in England is fantastic; its the country that is little in size but huge in world importance. The English humour is the best in the world and the people are hard working, honest, reliable and caring for our families. We are proud to be English.
The weather is much better than people think i.e. its been in the 80s today and this has cooled down from recent days! The city of London is the most exciting place to be anywhere in the world, and you have Scotland, Ireland and Wales, as well as Europe on your door step. What more could you need?

The UK and Ireland are quite different places to live. Friends of mine have recently moved from England to Ireland to experience a slower pace of life.
However, I can comment on what it's like to live in England.
There's a lot more regional variation than you'd find in countries such as the US. Towns and cities have much more of an individual character. Overall, the culture is more diverse.
Some parts of the UK are very expensive to live compared to other westernized countries. London is the most expensive place to live (probably in the world).
You have to experience living in the UK to compare it for yourself.

It depends which part of the UK or Ireland you are living in because there are nice and horrible places. I live in Kent in England and its a nice place to live. The weather is warm at the moment, there is good transport links to central London and its relatively clean and safe. On the down side there is the usual traffic in the roads, house prices are very high and its over populated with people.

I would not recommend living in England to anyone, the weather is awful, the public transport system is not only expensive but poorly run. The taxes we have to pay are far too high and we even have to pay to watch the BBC even if we don't watch it ever. Does that make sense to you having to pay £120 a year for tv channels you don't watch, it's the law you have to pay.
Petrol is far too high and most people have to weigh up whether going out is actually worth the expense of the petrol.
Young teens run riot with no punishment apart from an ASBO which most teens look on as a badge of honour and if you are burgled and violently attacked then you are in the wrong.
I wont even start on the terrorist threats thanks to Blair or the fact you cannot find a dentist unless you can afford to go private

Rose Smith and DC are spot on!
The UK is great - we have proper 'seasons' with sunshine in the summer, autumn fog, snow in the winter (occasionally!), bright and blooming spring. Plus a million different words for rain!
Food has improved enormously in the last two decades - you can get amazing continental cuisine or fab British stodge!
We are liberal (mostly) We have a free press. Very few people carry guns. We have decent holidays (not 13 days or whatever the stingy US allowance is).
We have great comedy, music and literature. Our tv is probably the best in the world.
We are on Europes doorstep and can pop 'abroad' for a weekend - or even just a day trip.
We have the NHS.
We are an island! 8-)

Its amazing to actually live in the land of the free rather than the land that talks about living in the land of the free!
Seriously I don't know how England ever got the reputation for being stuffy and tight lipped. Compared to America we are totally free. our news is less censored, are programs are too, we can say more swear words on TV, our laws on fun stuff like weed and alcohol are more in line with reality. and we are less inclined to blow each others brains out over a disagreement when performing in 'freedom of speech'
Hey but these are all only less likely, England is good but some things are rubbish! Public transport isn't great (although I've seen worse) We have a huge debt problem, everyone is just borrowing money rather than making it (me included I'm a dirty student) we keep building on green areas, and the nation are all getting really fat, and the government and other agencies like the NHS keep saying its not my fault. Bloody privatisation!! (You don't usually hear that coming from a 21 year old, but it is true)
People moan about the weather all the time, but I like it. Although I live in Southampton which is warmer and less rainy that the north of England. (Wish I did live there though as the men have sexier accents!)
Oh yeah!! and our music rocks, like actually rocks rather than some imitation of rock, which actually sucks.

well seeing that i dont know where you live i cant make a credible comparison, but i can tell you this its better than where your living at the moment, sure the weather aint that great but you get used to it. we have a pretty damn good democratic system, no stupid two party system like the US for us. we have quite good human devolopment index if u want to get technical, we have the best Music sorry but we do. low unemployment oh and a national health service which isnt amazing but the principle is there. plus we have low unemployment so its not hard to find a job as long as your not a stoner and have something that looks like qualifications, we have good legislation to make sure there are good working conditions. Oh plus we have quite a favourable position in the world seeing that america love us, and the rest europe does what we say, which is nice.

Ummm it's OK, too many taxes, people who need things get put behind people who wouldn't need things if they had stayed where they were, It has a lot of pretty places and history. Hmm nope can't really think of anything to tell you, seen as there is WAY too much and I can't be bothered.
