You think you can take care of yourself, but if something happens to you, your mom will go to jail. Also, your failing your Spelling class, so get back in the house and do some homework. If you're even half a decent child, you'll do some chores to help out around the house. Raising you is a pain in the butt without having you running around causing trouble like a little hoodlum.

And your point would be? You are 12 and perhaps you should have a talk with your mother and ask her what the reason for not trusting you is. Asking a question without any type of qualifier regarding your previous behavior or given reason for a given restriction is not providing for an answer. If you are only making a statement take it somewhere else.

The world isn't a shiny place today. When I used to whine about that stuff my mom would basically tell me how it is out there.
Needless to say, her inappropriately aged stories scarred me for many a year.
Things happen. If your mom isn't watching you, someone could drive up and snatch you before she even knew what was going on. There's no way you can overpower a grown man or woman.
Children are very important to their mothers. I'm guessing if she let you out of her sight, and something happened to you, she'd probably kill herself.
Enough people are sad in this world.
You have your whole life to go outside by yourself when you're older. =)

Just because you're 12 doesn't mean you can take care of yourself. Your mom is overprotective because she doesn't want anything bad to happen to you. Don't you read or watch the news when they talk about girls being kidnapped and raped or murdered. She doesn't want you to be one of them so just be cool and listen to your mother. Or go out with someone you know that is older.

Your mother loves you and is concerned about you. You might think that you are able to take care of yourself, but if something drastic happens such as you being snatched by some sicko you will be thinking differently.
I think that it's best for you to listen to your mother and respect the fact that she worries about you.
Maybe you live in a rough neighborhood.

same here. when i was 12 though. But now im 14. I had to show my mom that i had grown and i was responsible. There are different ways to show her that you can take care of yourself and that u have responsobility.

I know at 12 you feel all grown up...but the fact is you're not. You should be thankful that you have a mother who cares about your well being. You should obey your mother, she knows more than you think.

Sorry bud, but there is about 6 years between you and an adult. Even adults can't always take care of themselves. She loves you and besides haven't you seen Dateline? Damn there are some real maggots out there. stay safe.

it's probably not that she don't trust you, it could be the fact that people are not the same like in the old days when it was safe for kids to be out alone until dark. there are alot of sick people in today's world, she's just protecting you. be thankful that she cares.

i know how you feel -- but trust me -- 1) you cannot take care of yourself, 2) your mom's responsibility is to protect you. So if anything EVER happens to you, it will be her fault.
and 3) what will you do when someone throws you in a van and kidnaps you?
