Mainstream 'emo' and screamo in my opinion. And please don't say 'rap'. It's not new and hating rap is boring. All right?

American Idol

Rock groups that sing songs that sound like they are whining all the time.

Song remakes.

Samples of other songs into "new" songs.

Pretty women dancing making men "look" attractive.

Groups of men singing together about women and for women.

Women singing about emotional perfection and appreciation towards an unknown reason.

Songs with too much vocal show off and not enough vocal honesty.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

I would say rap but you said not to and besides, rap isn't music.

So I'll agree with you about the mainstream emo. It takes very little musical skill and every single band looks and sounds exactally the same

cover tunes that sound like the old songs but louder faster or worse

if the artist wanted it with more yelling in it he/she would have cranked it up and let it out

but they tried it and it was wrong

certain songs relate to specific periods in time and you can tell this by their instruments, way of singing, beat, dancability, message... etc if you change it you lose it

Artists that cant think of their own material shouldnt be currently recording until they can think of a song of their own
until then stay in your garage and rock out to your own stuff
if nobody likes it so what?
its not the money its music
that makes you feel good

A rich man is not remembered as fondly or as long as a poor but driven and inspirational man...

if you're talking a music/dance craze, i'd say the macarena; any dance move that can be done by the most uncoordinated person is 'not' a dance move in my opinion; if you're talking music genre, i'd say techno....no words and never ends (AKA "same song, all night long"); also can't stand 'sampling'...artists these days use no creativity or imagination...they just 'revise' others' work and put their stamp on it. really sad.

The wide-spread proliferation of performers with no discernable talent. Turn on a Top-Forty station and they're the first thing you'll hear.

Most rap, wether hating it is boring or not. Simply because a lot of it revolves around self obsession: "MY hoes," "MY bling", "MY homies" etc. Nobody likes a braggart.
