Recently Ms. Michel Bachelet was elected president of Chile. It was considered a great victory for her and the chilean people, who have gone through hard times in the past. I would like to know what Americans think of a lady president.

There are quite a few outspoken capable women in the US who could run for office...

Condaleeza Rice is great..Nancy Pelosi is also great...I understand why someone would want to nominate Oprah...or Bette Midler...

When looking at history from a statistical point of view, the women who have been in power have more often than not been more diplomatic, circumspect and peaceable...

Golda Meir is one of my favorites...

Condi Rice

She is a very intellegent person and I think she would be wonderful in the oval office.

Actully, I would love to see a women as president, but it scares me that it could be Hillary. She is so liberal. I don't think she would do any good for our country. If she were to be president I gareentee you it would be the last time in a long while a woman would be commander in chief. She would ruin it for other women who have better qualifications than she.

I would absolutely vote for a woman president...their sensibilities are a bit more balanced than men's.

I heard the story of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of Liberia. After elected, she focused on stopping mass rape of women and emphasized education. It wasn't to gain more wealth or power, as many men historically have done.

Of course this is just one case, and no sweeping generalizations should be made. I agree we should elect the best person for the job, regardless of gender or race.

Who would you choose to be the first lady president of the USA? Why?

Hillary Clinton. Why? because she is the wife of Bill Clinton.

We shouldn't elect someone because they're a woman, we should elect someone because they are the most qualified for the job. As of now, in my opinion, the most qualifed person to take office would be Al Gore, but as of yesterday, he's not running (unfortunately).

There is an old joke, that we God created man she was only kidding, and I think a lady president would be wonderful. A woman thinks with their heart and their head and men don't think
at all it seems sometimes.
