why would he want to hold your butt before your hand?is this a bad sign

It really depends on the guy, is he asking to hold your hand too or other things, if so maybe he's just nervous and doesn't know how to go about physically interacting with you and is looking for your guidance or permission before proceeding to the next step?
If this is a new relationship then it's good he's asking and not just up and grabbing it.
You should both communicate about it a bit more and be open, instead of asking us how he might think or feel or what it means ask him and get the correct answer, but be wary of pulling out the sword, keep an open mind because you dunno if you don't ask and it's easy to missunderstand real intentions.

Maybe his hands sweat and he's shy about it. The only way you'd know this is
1) He held your hand and you were disgusted by sweaty palms
or
2) He left sweaty prints on your pants which will dry before you have a chance to really notice. =^)
Enjoy the attention cuz your boyfriend doesn't think of your hands when he fantasizes about you.

He's probably a butt guy, rather than a hand guy.
Heck NO, if he cant hold your hand...Then he cant touch your but either. Cuz you KNOW what that will lead to!!!
But I DO respect him for asking....Rather than taking it upon himself to assume that you would allow it.

He's just curious about your butt, but shy to hold your hand. Tell that he can touch your butt, but then hold his hand when he goes to grab it. Tell him that he has to take it step by step.
You should be glad that he is polite and asks you.

if he had respect he wouldn't do it but if you are 16 and under no if he is 18 and under it will go farther so no when you guys are over 25 yeah who care and if he doesn't hold your hand he wants to go further and with any age NO
