I think it isn't a bad idea...but...also that everyone should be welcomed to the US if done correctly....interested to hear what you have to say (without being a smart@)

i think building a wall is ridiculous. Now a large super powerful bug zapper like device would be more fun. Just think,,,,,,sitting back in your lawn chair and saying "look hun, here comes a fat one" bzzzzzzzzpphhhhhtttttttt.
Yea, that's what we need. I really like this idea.

It is a colossal waste of concrete.
There are always drills, ladders and tunnels.
Think of it, when a heavily fortified wall ran through Germany, heavily armed guards watching every meter of it, cameras, lights, dogs, guns, the whole shebang, and still some people made it to the west. Very few, admittedly, but then they actually risked death and incarceration.
The planned wall won't be anything as fortified (I guess in the end they don't want to massacre the people trying to come in, just stop them), so how effective can that wall be? There might be less people coming in (until they found a way around the wall) but if you are determined, it won't stop you. At the moment a lot of those trying to come over already trek through miles and miles of desert, and still they come. They will deal with that wall as well. Especially since there will be so much of it. How do you expect policing that wall could work?
Now, what might work is actually TWO walls, set apart from each other by two miles or so, and then this dead mans land between the walls is stocked with all kinds of maneating things. At that point you would have a lethal wall system that might work. On the other hand, it might be a bit of overkill.

It would be a huge expense and really won't keep people out. The whole border system needs to be modernized. Groups of politicos from all sides of the borders, Canada too, keep having meetings in Washington and nothing happens. It gets worse everyday. I heard that people can enter Canada and phone in!

I've been crossing the border at San Ysidro, Baja California for many years, its a mess for visitors, Mexican workers, school kids. Better, quicker identification would help, more gates, more agents. People will cross over whether they are welcome or not. Target and Walmart are only a few miles up the road.

Years ago, an idea like this would be unthinkable - but times and circumstances have changed. The illegal immigration situation has gotten out of hand and some drastic measures are needed to protect our country, San Diego constructed a wall between them and Mexico and the results has been great.

With a wall, people will still be able to come to to the US yo visit, shop and even work if they have the proper documentation.

Berlin Wall, the Great Wall of China...both were great at keeping large groups of people out. But there will always be those innovative people who figure out some other way. A wall between US and Mexico is a great load of money wasted.

Maybe instead, part of Mexico could become part of the U.S. and then we could make that territory like the U.S., since that is why they want to come over here so bad. Or maybe some of us could go over there and work with their gov't officials and businesses and teach them how we do things here.

You can give a man a fish and feed him for a day or you can teach him how to fish and feed him for life.

Well something needs to be done to keep these criminals out. Yes illegal aliens are criminals. They are breaking the law to be here and as such they are a criminal.

It's stupid, i don't want my tax payers money going to that. There are better ways to get around immigration, plus, they'll find away around it... they always do... lol
