Sarah Breedlove Walker, known as Madam C. J. Walker, was the first African American woman millionaire in America, known not only for her hair straightening treatment and her salon system which helped other African Americans to succeed, but also her work to end lynching and gain women's rights.

Madam C. J. Walker who was also known as Sarah Breedlove. She devised a hair cleaning and grooming system for African-American Women in the early 1900's. She was well respected in the business world and gave back to her community by not only hiring African-Americans to work for her in her Indianapolis headquarters, but encouraged women to go forth on their own and make a difference. She was way before Oprah in both her wealth, but in her inspiration to others. She was also well know for her philanthropy.
