I am ashamed to say, I once almost voted Democratic.
When Al Gore was running for President I remember thinking that we needed an environmental leader above all else. While I was in the voting booth, my hand hovered around the small hole next to his name. But I just couldn't do it. I voted for Bush.
Later I realized how ironic the outcomes are when we're so certain of our cause. The environmentalists of the 1970s scared the public so thoroughly that no nuclear reactors have been built in the U.S. since then. Practically no oil refineries either.
As a result, we're terribly dependent on foreign oil, and forced, at great expense and peril to keep order in the Middle East. One of the founders of Greenpeace recently admitted how wrong he and his buddies were. Nuclear power would really have been a safe, clean source of energy. France doesn't have to worry about oil. They've got lots of nuclear reactors pumping out cheap energy.
The Democratic party is like a relic from the past. They haven't had an original, worthwhile idea since the New Deal.
I have heard it said that Republicans act like every day is the 4th of July, while the Democrats act like every day is April 15th.
Regarding the war on terrorism, Liberals have this crazy idea that the terrorists will learn to love us if we leave. Obviously, they don't use a calendar, because 9-11 happened BEFORE we invaded Iraq. Terrorists don't need a reason to create mayhem. They just need an excuse, and the fact that we are infidels is all the excuse they ever need.
Ronald Reagan once said, "they say if we'll only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he'll forget his evil ways and learn to love us." Reagan knew that the Soviet Union was like a big, hungry bear, and that by feeding it, he would only encourage the bear to get stronger and dominate the world to an even greater degree.
You can't back down from terrorists. They will not learn to love us. When Israel made huge concessions to the Palestinians, the terrorists weren't grateful. The terrorists just saw this as a sign of weakness. They said, "we're winning.... let's keep pummelling Israel and we'll get more".
Liberals just don't understand. They live in a fantasy world.

It's amazing how desperate you guys have become knowing how unpopular you are right now. I'll agree the Dems have been playing lousy opposition, but when it becomes obvious that Carrot Top would be a more appropriate alternative the current leadership, Republicans are going to have a very difficult time in '06 & '08.
Look for the House to turn on '06, and Dems maintain the House and take the Presidency in '08 (depending on nominees, admittedly) and Republicans maintain Senate leaving us with actual checks and balances instead of a party that continues to bankrupt the nation with out of control spending and ridiculous tax cuts aimed specifically at the richest 5%.
As far as what Dems stand for:
True healthcare reform - devising a plan that allows the nearly 50 million American uninsured access to affordable healthcare.
True Energy Policy - devising alternative fuels that both increase energy independence from foreign lands and protect and improve the environment
Education - increase in Pell Grants and reverse of the cuts that Republicans made in the Student Loan program to make higher education more reachable for all Americans
Foreign Policy - repair world relations so that strong international alliances can be formed to prevent rogue states from developing actual WMD.
Military - How about never sending troops in harms way without proper equipment, that would be a nice start.
Just a few. I still think the Dems have a lot of work to do, but right now, "We're not them" seems to work. Every single major poll taken this month shows, when asked: "Will you vote for a Republican or Democrat for Congress?" that the Democrats have a lead ranging from 7% to 13%.
It's already been stated that a 10 point program will be announced in September that will outline exactly what a Democratically controlled House and Senate will do.
As far as your question, why would anybody vote Democratic?
Again, the best answer seems to be: They're not Repbulican.

The Democratic Party is the party of No as well as The Church of I Hate Bush, and the Party of Whining.
Not to mention loads of Democrats said Saddam was a threat before Bush was President, loads of Democrats also said Saddam had WMDs before Bush was President but then turn around claiming Bush made up stories of WMDs (although recently proof is in the air that Bush was telling the Truth all along but the Democrats still whine because of their devotion to the Church of I Hate Bush).
Well guess what im voting Republican like I already did last couple of Elections.
If the Democrats don't like it that's too bad.

It's funny how the democrats on here talk about how republicans don't care about poor people. My family is poor yet we are republicans. My parents would rather work hard and earn their money than having free handouts from the government. If they wanted handouts they would move to Canada or France. While living in France or Canada we would not have much money because the cost of living in so much and they take out so much money for taxes thus causing our paychecks to be smaller. If our paychecks were smaller we would not have enough money to go out and buy things. If people did not buy as much the economy would go down. I bet the Democrats enjoyed the extra money that they got back from taxes the other year though. Of course, though, they aren't going to say "Thanks Bush for the tax break you got us." And I'm really getting tired of hearing people, when arguing about abortion, say that republicans don't care that a child has to be born into poverty. Here's an idea! How about you don't have children unless you can financially support them! Come on people, common sense...I'm only 17 and I have more of it than some people do at the age of 30.

I am Democrat and if there was a Democrat for president right now then things in this world and Iraq would be a LOT better. All of our soldiers getting killed for what?? So that the country with the majority of people who do not want to act civilized can be better? I say let them be the kind of people they want to be. We at least need a president who can make a speech without stuttering and messing it up every other word!

HAHAHAHA... and the republicans have so many solutions... hahaha... the Republicans are SO GOOD AT MAKING MESSES THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO GET OUT OF IT, LEAST OF ALL THEM...
we're going to be over there for 20 years, then a civil war will break out and it's all going to be for nothing... GOOD JOB! Iran of the 1970s all over again!
actually, if you've ever actually looked... which of course you haven't because Republicans don't research their opinions (for the vast majority)... you would've seen that Kerry had a much more complex plan for America than whatever Bush was proposing during the last election... Bush's entire platform seemed to consist of "I don't like abortion and Kerry's a flip-flopper"... that's really well thought out... and he's did so much to ban abortion... HAHAHA
if you go look... you can see what many of us stand for, and we all don't stand for exactly the same thing...

Neither party has the sense God gave a snail. The problems that face us are the result of the present system that has been in power since the early 1900's and I haven't seen anything but a mounting deficit and the entire world hate us in the last 6 years.

republicans seem to spend money. there was a surplus when clinton was in office. the first year bushie stole the election, we went trillions of dollars in debt. sounds like the republicans raise taxes.
bush is a republican, and he wants "guest worker programs" which is amnisty. i am a democrat, and i am completely against amnisty for anyone.
sounds like to me that you are a twelve year old dumbass who listens to his thief republican dad too much. bush sells out america every chance he gets.
he only started this war so he could steal the oil, which they did do. we now own oil fields in the middle east, and other countries own some of our most famous buildings.
how many weapons of mass destruction was there? none? didn't think so.
what will bush steal next? what will bush sell next? who will bush sell next?
for roxy-bush has a normal shaped head? bush looks like a monkey that is staring into the sun, with his beady little eyes.

The democrats all just COMPLAIN COMPLAIN and have ZERO solutions to the problems that face us.
-------------
Actually, its the republicans that have zero solutions...al the republicans know how to do is lie, and diabolize others.
---------------
Where do they stand on the war, besides '' I dont' know''??
------------
Against an illegal war for oil.
----------
Where do they stand on immigration, besides ''amnesty for all''??
-------------
for realistic solutions to a complicated problem.
------------
What DOES the democratic party stand for, besides raising taxes????
--------------
Freedom of speach, truth, prosperity, the middle class not just the wealthy, real solutions to complicated real world problems rather than sound bite sized horse puckety like the repugnicons.

We ALL know how Bush and Cheney STAND for, especially on WAR-
The first didn't finish his service in the National guard because he went to go work on someone's campaign.
The second deferred his way out of service.
Way to go .....
