I am a student, and although I am good at learning things I feel that that have got to be more techniques to help me memorize key passages as well as retain information that I study while reading or preparing for tests at University. I'm looking for tips particularly when it comes to economics, history, social sciences, languages and international management.

Flash cards are my study aid of choice...If I am memorizing, I tend to break it up into pieces and learn a short part every day until it is due. That way I can learn it slowly and keep it in my head longer than if I crammed it in my head in a day or 2. hope this helps.

If the information or poetry really speaks to you. Then you will remember ar at least have a large incentive to memorize it. Otherwise, leave that part of your brain empty to learn the things that do ring true for you. It sounds like your forgettery is in perfect working order.

Make flashcards of important information and study 3 days ahead of a test. If they have a website, use it to print off more info. Use encylopedias and write down the information. Studies show the more you recite info the more you remember it.

visualize the passage in your mind and try to associate it with something that you can remember. flash cards are only good if you understand the passage. you can separate the passage into parts and then read each out loud. One mistake is reading and reading the passage without concentrating on its meaning, so try to grasp the main points.
