all of the large manufacturing companies want to make as much profit as is possible. They don't care about quality or who makes their products. Wal*Mart owns companies in Communist China that makes products made by child labor. Does it bother them No. WE buy this crap and at an inflated price. Remember when American made products could be repaired? No more. Comminist China makes un- repairable crap. I laugh when I see religous people dressed in their best in Wal*Mart on Sunday afternoon buying all their products that were made in an Atheist , Communist country. How is that for being stupid. Wal*Mart laughs all the way to the bank. You can buy flags from VietNam also.

That's a damn good question and here is my theory,
in America it costs twice the amount to produce a product than
in another country so the companies produce them in say China
or Mexico and then sell them here for $15.00 to $60.00 and make
three times the profit.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMIN'S
because money has become more important than anything else
like pride in your country or love of your neighbors, as the bible says and I'm not overly religious but we need to get back to the Bible's way of things and we'd all be happier.

We don't make a lot of things anymore. Because of our demand for fair wages, the money men sent all the jobs overseas. Haven't you noticed the switch from a manufacturing economy to a service economy? China makes all the electronics that are designed by our tax dollar funded research labs.

US companies like to go abroad because the labor cost is cheaper. if they produce in the states, they have to pay a higher cost to workers than they would in china. so technically it is a US company making the flag, its just made in china to make more profit for the company. it is sad because it takes money out of our economy but there is really nothing that can be done about it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism. The bottom line is, China and other Asian countries can make flags and other patriotic items cheaper than the USA can. That means they can be sold cheaper, and will be more attractive to buyers. So it's all about profit making.

No, we can't, and this is why. Many, many years ago, in a land far away (China), a position opened up for Chinese Ambassador. It was filled by Herbert Walker Bush, son of a well-to-do family from New England. He received this appointment as a political payback for all the money his family had funneled to the Republican Party. After being annointed Ambassador he was courted(wined and dined) by the industrial want-to-be's in that country and urged to open trade to the U.S., and vice versa. He lobbied hard for this opportunity for his new found friends and finally opened a crack in the moratorium against trading with this lumbering giant of a country that had little technology, but did have an uncanny way of making their working class toil away for 15 hours a day, for less than 1/4 th of their American counterparts. Realizing he had stumbled upon something big, he began talking it up at Washington socials and Republican fundraisers. Soon thereafter, he began hosting "trade missions" to China to encourage investment and a transfer of industrial technology to this country. (Trade missions are large backslapping affairs wherein large stockholders(investors) in certain industries are encouraged to close shop in the U.S. and send their manufacturing expertise(technology) to foreign countries rather than continue realizing a paulty 10-15% ROI (return on investment). Trade missions are by and large paid for by U.S. taxpayers since loading up two or three jumbo jets with business partners that are friends of the administration can be expensive when you include the airfare, limousines, hotels, three exquiste meals every day, and nightly "entertainment". (No one person could be expected to foot the bill for this kind of largess).----this was too good, they had to get H.W. Bush local, so he was elevated in a series of moves to CIA Chief, Vice President, Then President....and the flood gates opened. Within months, trade missions to the U.S. featured large contingents of Chinese investors buying up manufacturing and production equipment from U.S. companies that were "going out of business" because they could no longer make electronics, household goods, and yes, American flags, as cheaply as 500 million Chinese working for $10.00 a week. Do I need to outline why it is nothing is being done to curb the balance of trade with China while George W. is in office, or why George is so willing to let 20 million illegals take up residence in our country? I think not. (our country is being sold out from under us by greedy politicians(infuence peddlers) and it is quickly being repopulated by third world workers that will "do the work Americans don't want to do". The End.

Even making flags is a business and businesses have to make money to continue as an ongoing concern. I am sure you do not have to worry about flagmakers driving ferraris and living in Switzerland. If they could make them here and make a profit, they would do so.

Profits. We accuse so many people of being unpatriotic but big business sends our labor overseas. Big business can't exploit our labor market, thanks to a whole bunch of democrats, so now we exploit people in other countries. Which will eventually piss them off and they, too, will be saying "Death to America". We tried to import Mexicans to do our cheap labor but they got wise and now we have to make them look like they are sucking hind tit so that the American public will be angry and send them "back to where they came from." Capitalism is about profits, and profits before humans.....why can't more people figure this out? You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe that big business, who is in bed with the GOP, has our best interests at heart.

yep... money talks and it doesn't matter if it's flags or apple pie, PROFIT seems to be the most "American" idea anymore...

I think it all started in the 70s, and every president since then has fully endorsed the idea, helping the whole things along, especially with NAFTA under Clinton and CAFTA under GW Bush...

Same goes for cars, electronics, toys, etc. etc. Its called making a profit. Companies are not charities. People want the lowest prices so the companies give them what they want. Its up to the people to buy only US made goods.
