Just wondering what other people do. There are many times when one recieves presents, if you get a double or something you don't like do you pass it on or take it back?

When I receive a present that's a "double" or something I don't like or don't use or doesn't fit, then I re-gift. It's a gift and if I can pass it on to someone who needs it or will use it, then why not? It's being put to good use. Similarly, if I present someone with a gift and their reaction is one of the above, I'm not offended if they re-gift. Any of the aforementioned options is infinitely preferable to their either throwing away the gift or burying it in a closet.

I have if it's a good present that just doesn't fit me and it's in perfect condition. We got a board game for Christmas (Cranium) from a co-worker of my husband. It came in a really nice metal tin, and it's still shrink wrapped, so it looks like we just got it from the store. I'll probably give it to my sister because she loves games. If it will make her happy, and it's just cluttering my house, why not?

Just make sure the person who originally gave you the gift won't know you re-gifted, and make sure the gift is in perfect condition and is something that is not obviously re-gifted. (Such as clothing that is out of season, anything personalized, etc.)

If I "re-gift" I let the person know that I'm passing on something that I was given. And it comes in a recycled gift bag, so it looks nice, but it's not wrapped. And, if it's a birthday, xmas, etc they also get something else that was picked out just for them.

I think a friend of mine does it. I might do it if I find no need to. I mean it's not a bad idea. Unless you're doing it to intentionally hurt someone...

yep...I gotta admit I've done this once....ok maybe twice ;-) Ya just gotta remember where it originally came from so the first gifter doesn't find out.
