He wasn't.He was in the worst movies ever made,stole other peoples songs and chased under age girls all over the place.That alone would have landed him in jail if he were around today.

Elvis was a ground breaker - noone else moved like him - you can thank him for many of the current dance moves - he got the whole thing started with what was called gyrating the hips.
plus a little known fact about elvis was that he was very well schooled in music - had tremendous music knowledge, thus he was able to write and perform songs that endure across time.
these things all make the guy cool despite the fact he is dead for decades now.

Elvis rocks..
He was handsome in his day...
He had moves better than anyone else dared to share...
His voice was entrancing...
Dude (Elvis) had it all...
Best of all...he loved his mom and his country.
I don't think I left anything out...that made him cool. Oh yeah, one other thing...he was generous.
