What age are your kids? You could babysit one or two kids at home, that way you are at home with your kids and earning a bit of money.
You could also trade a bit of shift with your husband. You (or he) could work an overnight job (even a part time late evening job) then one of you is always at home with the kids and the other is earning money. Just be sure if you do this to include in your schedule some full family time and some alone time.
Even living paycheck ot paycheck you should be trying to put 10% of your income each month away in case of unforeseen circumstances. You should have at least two months salary saved up, and make sure you have insurance on your credit cards and mortgages that includes loss of job or the inability to work because of illness or accident. This will give you peace of mind about paying your bills. Then make a budget and stick to it. What are you spending money on that you don't need to (do you have the full cable package, but only watch about 4 main channels, get rid of the full cable package.... do you go out for dinner often, are you driving a car that is expensive on fuel, do you insist on name brands for clothing and food? all of these will help decrease your monthly spending and kick the paycheck to paycheck habit).
Good luck.

Sure. Start your own online business. There are tons of ways to make money with your own site and you are in control. You can learn more about this by signing up for every newsletter you can find.
Some ideas are, affiliate marketing, write ebooks, and lots more. You will have to work at it and put in some time to get it going but if you "make a decision" to do it, then once in place bingo! You will see results.
I found this site has some good information and this article is one that I think everybody should read if interested in starting a business.

How about a daycare position where you can bring your kids a long? Don't do cashcrate. All the people on their site fill up your mailbox with useless offers. I was getting 150 emails from them a day.

Hi:
I gave up a nursing career so I could raise my kids.
I had an in house day care business and it helped with the bills and at tax time I wrote a lot of the house off.
It's hard but helps and keeps you home. Look in to it.
Work the hours you set and set up time lines for vacaction.
It helped for us and allowed me not to miss a step of raising my own kids.

Have you considered in-home day care? You can be licensed fairly quickly and easily, and you can stay home with the kids and earn a great living!

you could get a license to do day care. Usually you are allowed 6 children per adult, so 3 more would help a lot, money wise.
