The other day I was thinking that philosophy is the art of thinking, but what is thinking good for? The chipmunks don't think like us but they seem to be doing fine. I mean all I do is waste time thinking about stupid stuff like this anyways. And everyone else wastes time thinking about what to watch on TV tonight.

Chipmunks live what, 5 yrs? What's there to think about, where the next walnut comes from?

You're a HUMAN, with great capacity to acheive good, to help others and to make the world better in your long life.

You want to just bounce around hunting for walnuts fine. I'll think about where I'll go on my next vaction.

If you wish to think, do so. If you don't... don't. But remember thinking can help us to anticipate consequences. The chipmunks you spoke about have a pretty limited range of behaviors so they can get away with not thinking. If you want to be expansive however, thinking is one way to get it done. Besides, the longer the college can keep you in their philosophy courses, just thinking a way, the more money they make!

It is far better to be thinking about something than to be brain dead. There must be something in this stupid stuff that's satisfying to you. After all you thought about how much time is being wasted, the chipmunks couldn't do that.

We do not who we really are, identifying ourselves with anything we perceive, often with our thoughts as well..What if we are not our thoughts?.Who is the one who think? Who is the one who think that he think, and so on? That question wouldn't be answered if one ask it outside of him/herself. The question should be directed within...and then, observe, be attentive to the thinking process. You will realize that you do not have control over your thoughts. Then real wonder come who is the one who cannot control it? Then your journey begin, I wish you good luck.At the end of your thoughts clarity coming. There is no needs to think...it thinks for you as you wish. That is an ultimate. But before we must get extremely exhausted, thinking over and over again to understand that benefits of thinking so much limited that whole life would be considered senseless and useless. Then you'll discover that another way exist.Way that always was and you always new about it but never ever took it for consideration.

WE are the only species that actually changes our environment. That makes us uniques in the world. And dangerous. A little information is a dangerous thing. Thinking prevents accidents.

It is fun when you are with others who are inquisitive and have many interests! Someone writes these TV shows, you know, and they have a good life and make good money.

For one, we will not have this forum if thinking is passe. And most of the conveniences we take for granted today were born out of thought. :)
