I use a Dell laptop, with Windows XP and sometimes the cursor just decides to start moving upwards contineously for no obvious reason

Then the symptom dissapears by itself no matter what I try to do to stop the cursor from sliding upwards (i.e. Escape key, clicking the right or left mouse buttons.. etc)

It seams it is not only Dell or Windows XP that has this problem as I had the same comment from others who use Toshiba and other brands.

Common problem with the Dells. It is caused by the build in "mouse" stick or touchpad shorting. As it is a short, there is no key combination that will stop it. It keeps moving until the short stops. There is no way to fix or clean one that we have ever found. We replace the keyboards and the palm rest.

I support a site with about 1400 Dell laptops, and we normally replace 2-3 keyboards and touchpad units every week for just that issue. We get boxes of 25 at a time. Fortunately, ours are under warranty.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact Dell to have it repaired.

This usually is an adjustment on the joystick, if you can not find physical adjustment on the joystick itself, then check for a utility bundled with the joy stick to allow the centering and at rest adjustments. I think Windows has a control panel adjuster as well when joy stick is enabled.

It is because when the joystick (actual name joypad) is scratched or damaged. It happens in all laptops (mine too). So the best thing is to buy a PS/2 or USB (2.0) mouse.

Butter has a tendency to burn swifter than different varieties of oil,for this reason causing your hashbrowns to adhere to the bottom of your pan. in case you take advantage of oil and set the nice and cozy temperature to medium intense upload your potatoes. once you've em in the pan for type of 5 or ten minutes reckoning on how warm your range receives then you definately upload the butter for flavor. like another guy suggested, the nice and cozy button is to enable them practice dinner previously attempting to reveal them. some people get turn chuffed and the hashbrowns by no skill get a probability to brown. yet another trick I realized, and this one from my mom, is that you conceal the potatoes in the skillet with a lid to practice dinner em through and once you want em brown you're taking the lid off to launch the steam. once you've a higher skillet with extra potatoes now and again i will cup my fingers less than the tap so i'm able to pour water on the potatoes to assist bounce commence them to steaming their thanks to cooking. yet otherwise to practice dinner up hashbrowns is to decrease up and boil the potatoes first. i'm no longer optimistic once you're dicing em or using a cheese grater to make em yet once you're making extra of the abode fry type my good buddy Mikey continually swears on boiling the spuds first. You drain the water and then once lower back make optimistic the oil is warm and drop em in. this type has a tendency to adhere extra to the pan besides the undeniable fact that because the spuds are already gentle. you want a good metallic spatula like another guy become putting forward that you need to scrape all of that crispy goodness off of the bottom of the pan. wish i become some help. attempt it out and note what takes position. chuffed cooking!
