Why is it that people always use the excuse that they were mistreated as children when they are caught mistreating children? Like: I was abused as a child is a good enough excuse when they are abusing their own children. If a person was abused as a child they know how horrible it feels why do they go and treat another human being that way? Why does society take pity on such people? Shouldn't they be held accountable for their actions no matter how they were brought up? Is a person that was never abused but as an adult molests and beats a child any more guilty then a person that was molested and beaten as a child and grows up to inflict the same pain on another. I feel that if a person has experienced such pain they should never put someone else through it and should be held responsible for their actions with no pity. How do you feel when you hear of such things on the news? Do you pity a person that was abused and then abuses others? PAIN SUCKS FOR EVERYONE

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I agree completely with you. When you are put through hell all of your childhood/young life, you know what hell on earth is. The last thing that would come to my mind would be making someone else feel the pain. Of course, we humans are so alike and so different at the same time. While some might feel that no one should feel the same pain, others may feel that since they went through something like that, having others suffer can serve as some type of "revenge" or getting even with life or something... Even so, I don't pity them or excuse them or even understand a feeling like that. I think that pain causes ignorance in some people. They become ignorant in their reasoning and provide the most ignorant excuses for their senseless acts.

I feel bad for the abuse they suffered but abusing others is a choice they make for themselves. They should be punished and also be made to participate in therapy. Just because my mother was abused as a child did not mean she in turn abused my siblings or myself. She would walk away when she was angry. There is never a good 'excuse' for harming a child.

I empathize that they did realize that trauma and role modeling very young, which engrained itself into their psyche. However, I am a firm believer that you must change from within, especially that life is exactly what YOU make it, and if you choose to allow the cycle to continue you should be grouped in with the rest of those criminals.

No pity whatsoever for them. You have to deal with what happens in your life and get on with it, not to wreck someone elses life by doing what was done to you. Good question

Being abused as a child, to me, is no excuse to abuse others. I believe that anyone who uses that excuse is trying to excuse their own behavior.

Its not about pointing or even pity. It's about learning about others experience and creating a healthier society.Thats how we are able to create laws that protect before the fact. Some have died so that others can live and learn.

Two wrongs don't make a right. I don't pity them, just don't like them very much.

I pity them, but I don't like them. And although I would feel sorry for them, I would try harder to help their victim than to help them.
