There is a new scar creams out on the Market. Johnsons & Johnsons has it. Vitamin E oil also works....
Do not put anything on a open wound you need to wait until the wound is closed. I had a hysterectomy and was told to wait a good 2- 3 weeks before i put anykind a cream or oil on the cut.

Mederma, its skin care for scars you apply it 3 times a day to reduce the scar. It's roughly 15.00 for a small tube but it lasts 3 months you can pick this up at CVS or your local drug store. It worked on my daughters scar that was 2 years old.

the first couple of days after you should use a triple antibiotic ointment to avoid infection. Then when the incision is"sealed" after5-6 days you can start using the Vitamin E oil. Use it a couple of time per day and be sure to "massage" it into the surrounding area to increase blood flow to the area and speed healing.

Mederma works great! However is a little more pricey. Also I recommend St. Ives Vitamin E.
