An awesome book that will show you the difference is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It's a long read but you will definately get it by the end of the book.
In short:
Capitalism: "Every person for themselves." You choose how to earn your money and choose how to spend it. You have the freedom to control your finances and make whatever decisions you want with it. Most people in America choose to spend it on junk and then blame other people when they are not successful. That is because they do not have personal accountability or responsibility. For the rare ones that do, there are no limits.
Communism: Government controls everything. Everybody makes the same amount of money at every job. Literally a doctor will make as much as a burger flipper at a restaurant. The government controls the price of everything from your rent to food to gas to television. No freedom in how you can earn and spend your money. Limits to what you can do success-wise is determined by the government. This is usually what the liberals in America strive for as it is "equality" and "fair." It also destroys what makes Capitalism great.

Capitalism is based on the idea that everybody has the potenital to acheive better than the next person. It creates a system where (despite a wealth of rules) there is still healthy competition between people and companies for the bigger slice of the pie.
Communisim seeks equality for everybody. In that system there is no competition for profit because all materials and money are distributed equally (or at least thats the idea) by the government.
Communisim failed where capitalism succeded because communisim does not give the worker the drive to acheive. A communistic society evenaually develops a stagnant economy because all the workers have been garunteed their paychecks whether they work hard or not.

In capitalism, the "unfastened marketplace" controls the aspects of production. meaning persons and agencies very own the land, make the products, sell them to the community at great, negotiate wages, and so on. on an identical time as capitalism can shop the wealthy greater effective and the unfavorable down, it does enable for incredibly some circulate between training, and if somebody is inspired and smart sufficient, they are in a position to succeed. In communism, the government controls those aspects. They administration who gets the land, what's produced and at what priced, and so on. on an identical time as communism, whilst defined as sharing, does sound stunning and equivalent, it infrequently works like that. Communism, like quite a few different government, is concern to a multitude of corruption, so issues at the instant are not as honest and equivalent as they sound, and are in certainty, incredibly oppressive.

In Capitalism, the owners of the means of production (tools, resources etc), accrue most of the wealth through exploitation of labouring skills. Only THEN do they pay workers. In Communism, land, resources and institutions are state-owned, and the wealth is divided equally - in theory!

In a nutshell, private ownership vs. collective ownership.
Your post really should have been 'capitalism vs. socialism' b/c communism in actuality is to a socialist what 'nirvana' is to a buddhist.
Basically any idea concerning private ownership or individual captial gain is part of the capitalist idea.
And any idea concerning collective ownership, or collective gain is part of te socialist idea.
And in the US, we do have examples of both.

Capitalism is about free market economy that everything people demands they get it, it's produced. Communism is about what the govt' produces, you have to wear and eat it. In communism, they don't produce everything that people ask for, they only produce what the govt. tells to produce. For example, if govt. decides to produce only one kind of variety of shoes then you only will get that kind. If they produce one particular size of coats and you don't like it or it doesn't fit you, they don't care. you have to live with it. For food, you have to get up early in morning, and go to market, and they are selling food because that's the only time of day they will be selling food because govt. decides it and you have to get to the marketplace on time because they won't wait for you. and all the food sells out because remember in communism, it's limited production, if all food sells, they won't call for another supply because that would be it for the day. so if you get late to go to marketplace and all food sells out, they don't care and that's it for the day. so in a way, in capitalism, it's what people demands, and in communism, it's limited production.

Capital is very "I" centered. MY work earns MY pay which buys MY car and makes ME successful. Communism is "WE" centered. OUR pay buys OUR house and ensures stability and honor for OUR (extended) family. The property of one person is the property of all.
